The present title is a compendium of various monthly meetings and seminars organized by the Center. These meetings have been a lively forum of interaction between people involved with creating the best of books for children.
The National Center for Children’s Literature was established in 1993 by the National Book Trust, India an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Human Resource Development as a nodal agency to monitor, coordinate, plan, promote and aid the publication of children’s literature in various Indian language. Besides developing a Library-cum-Documentation Center of children’s literature, the Center is engaged in organizing, orientations, workshops and exhibitions and the promotion of reading habit at the school level by encouraging the setting up of Readers Clubs. The Center also conducts surveys, seminars and research related to children’s literature.
The present title is a compendium of various monthly meetings and seminars organized by the Center. These meetings have been a lively forum of interaction between people involved with creating the best of books for children. Children too have at time participated in these discussions. This has helped the people working in the field assessing the juvenile reader’s needs – special books.
The compiler Smt. Sharmila Sinha is a known author and activist in the field of children’s learning and literature.
