In Indian thought Lord Shiva represents the ultimate manhood and his consort Parvati the ultimate womanhood and the union of the two the ultimate art of creating. The cosmos came o exist as a result of this ultimate act and is also the continuance of the same.
Shiva, the infinite cannot be described in infinite terms; but a few of His aspects can be chosen and a description attempted. Here paintings provide much help.
