Description
When the story begins the last Great War is over and he planet is in ruins. Only a few humans remain and hey roam the earth in small bands, hunting for food and water - creatures now call them animen. They are not feared anymore but looked down upon. The jungles have vanished and the scorched land shudders with earthquakes and newborn volcanoes. It is almost as if the planet is trying to be born again.
When the story begins, Kenyoba, an African elephant in search of his lost herd meets Hindona, a singing elephant from India, and Colombus, a giant tortoise from the Galapago Islands. Thrown together, these three helpless creatures quickly become friends. Other creatures join the story as it moves along. There's the greedy Gorgash and his flock of scruffy vultures, Thrile the diabolical Kind Rat, crafty Langur who tries to be Sadhu, and J the Jackal who enjoys hunting other animals.
