Description

History is like the pulse of a nation. As long as the pulse beats the person lives and likewise, so long as a country continues to search for its true history, it cannot die.

A nation content with its falsified history and which does not have the courage to renounce it, is as good as dead. Such is the state of Indian intelligentsia today. As observed by Mc Caulay "a people who take no pride in the noble achievements of remote ancestors will never achieve anything worthy to be remembered with pride by remote descendents."

Nowadays, scholarship means being at home with what is written by the western scholars, who have discredited the ancient past of Indian culture and tried their very best to bring down the dates to suit their purpose.

A thousand changes, they have made in the dates and in the names of the kings. The whole thing is confusion worse confounded. It requires a Himalayan effort and unquenchable passion to lay bare the scheme and conspiracy that was responsible for throwing dust upon the veracity of the puranic account of history of India. At present, it is not possible to know and appreciate the true history of ancient India for most Indians.

The whole confusion began when the western scholars, rather willfully ousted Gupta Chandragupta and made Maurya Chandragupta usurp his place. Actually, Gupta Chandragupta flourished in 327 B.C. and was the contemporary of Alexander. Maurya Chandragupta lived in 1534 B.C. But the western historians wrongly identified Alexander's contemporary with Maurya Chandragupta, thus reducing more than 1200 years in the history of ancient India.

This colossal blunder upset the whole scheme and brought terrible chaos into the puranic dates of India. If and when this correction is made, every detail provided in puranas will be found absolutely correct and one obtains a true history of ancient India.

It is Sir William Jones, the first historian of India, who changed this date to effect a sort of similitude between the Biblical and the Indian conceptions of time. Even Max Milller, who is known to be a great lover of Indian culture, accepted what Jones has written, saying in so many plain words, that he accepted this to bring harmony between the Greek and Indian chronology.

Twelve centuries of time after the Mahabharata War (3138 B.C.) and ten centuries before that are struck off like this and the history the Indians get now is put upon this wrong base. The western scholars have not only bungled facts and tampered with texts, but even went to the extent of hurling abuse at ancient Indian historians and sages.
