Description

Translation of Persian treatise of three volumes bound in two as composed by Abdul Fazl, the minister of the Mughal Emperor Akber.

Abdul Fazl, putting himself at the head of a body of scholars undertook geographical, and physical survey of the total empire. This work is a unique compilation of the system of administration during Akber's reign.

Each of the sixteen Subas which the Mughal empire was then composed of, is described with minute exactitude. The geographical and relative situation of the cities and market places is indicated clearly. The names of the princes, both Hindu and Muslim are mentioned together with the military conditions prevailing at that time.

The work ends in a summary, made in general from indigenous sources, of the Brahmanic religion and the diverse system of the Hindu philosophy.
