Description

To write something on a great thinker is not an easy task. The writer should also have proper knowledge of the subject to interpret honestly the great ideas of the philosophers. The present work on the philosopher Ibn Rushd (1126-1198 A.D.) is an effort to highlight the work of that eminent thinker who influenced the western world for more than three hundred years. It is rightly who Iaid the foundation for European renaissance.

This book deals mainly with some aspects of Ibn Rushd’s philosophy with brief reference to some medieval Muslim thinkers. A chapter ‘From Incoherence of the Philosophers to Incoherence of Incoherence’ with reference to al-Ghazali and Ibn Rushd respectfully may be useful as well as thought provoking. In spite of the progress of materialistic civilization with the blessings of science and technology, we cannot do away with metaphysics and spiritual leaning altogether. Two appendices have been added for further interest to the readers.
