Description
He was an ‘Anari’ (Raj Kapoor) (simpleton). An anari, in love with a bubbly, vivacious, rich girl, Arti (Nutan). And now he stands in the little wooden box in court, accused of having murdered Mrs. D’Sa, his landlady. From where he stands in the court, he sees Arti, sitting quietly, graceful. He can’t believe this is the same Arti he fell in love with. He can’t believe that he is accused of murdering Mrs. D’Sa. He can’t believe…… There are lies and liars all around. It seems only a miracle can save him, and bring him and Arti together. But can he believe in miracles?
Music Director Shankar Jaikishan, teamed up with Lyricist Shailendra and singers Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar to create some outstanding numbers, which are popular even now, half a century after the movie’s release: Kisiki Muskarahato Pe – Mukesh, Woh Chand Khilla, Woh Tare Hanse A Lata -Mukesh duet, Sab Kuch Seekha Humne- Mukesh (he picked up the best playback award for this song), and the soulful, Tera Jana Dil Ke Armanon Ka Lut Jana – Lata.
