Raag Bilaskhani Todi is known to have been created by Bilas Khan, the illustrious son of the legendary Mia Tansen, who created and played this Raag as a tribute to his father sitting by the side of his dead body before his burial.
The Raag is set in Thaat Bhairavi and is usually sung in the 1st Prahar of the day. In this album we have presented Raag Bilaskhani Todi in the vocal and instrumental form. The vocal presentation by the legendary Smt Girija Devi includes a Khayal whereas the instrumental presentation includes Aalap and Gat by Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan on the Sitar
