Description
A man's love has many triangles: the triangle of a wife and a mistress; the triangle when the mistress betrays him for another lover; the triangle when the betrayed wife seeks solace elsewhere. This is a novel set in a landscape of the corrupt and the sex-hungry.
The central character, Gargi, marries a beautiful American blonde and settles with her in Chandigarh on the Punjab University campus as Theatre-Director. A lusty Punjabi actress crosses his path, who loves savagely and in desolate mounts. Gargi describes the innermost layers of his mental tortures: the glory and degradation of love, its insane pleasure, beauty, nobel moments, cruelty, and the evil chained in our flesh, the source of creative energy.
In an atmosphere of orgies and discussions of intellectuals, actors, writers and painters caught in their vortex of passion and selfishness, with gleams of idealism and noble moments, the narrative has panther-agility and sparkle.
An un-put-down novel which cannot be left unfinished.
