Description
As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of India's independence, National Gallery of Modern Art organized an exhibition entitled ' Santiniketan', featuring the works of Rabindranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Benod Behari Mukherjee and Ramkinker Baij.
The four artists represented in this exhibition laid great stress on versatility and had the vision to link art to nature and society. Through this exhibition, an attempt was been made to present their works in some strength and to highlight the continuing relevance of their achievements.
This collection includes 69 paintings of Tagore, 151 paintings of Nandalal Bose, 81 paintings of Benod Behari Mukherjee, and 135 exhibits of Ramkinker Baij. R. Sivakumar who curated this exhibition worked tirelessly to put together this collection of the most seminal art in India.
