Religion is as natural to man as social intercourse. The aim common to the religions of the world is that they undertake to bestow upon mankind the highest blessings, and the special way in which they seek to accomplish this, is by establishing friendly relations with a Power which is stronger than the ordinary course of nature.
Of the revealed religions, Christianity and Islam are today the greatest examples. Dr Johnson goes to the extent of saying: there are two objects of curiosity- the Christian world and the Mahometan world-all the rest may be considered as barbarous. Christianity and Islam have a great deal in common. Both claim to be monotheistic faiths. Both believe in the immortality of the soul and the life of the world to come. The moral teachings of the two religions are very similar. There are many prophets-including by the followers of Christians believe in him as the Incarnation and Son of God and the Redeemer of mankind; and the Muslims believe in him as a great prophet and messenger of God. A Comparative study of Christianity and Islam would, therefore, be of considerable interest to students of religion and seekers after truth.
