Description

The Root of the Word mission means sending. All Christian mission has its fountainhead in the God revealed in Scripture, who sent his Son for us, sends his Spirit to us, and summons all people to himself. The privilege and responsibility of his church, sent into all the world, is to testify by its words and deeds to Jesus Christ, God’s unique Son, crucified, risen and ascended.

This East-Wes partnership in missiological exploration expounds a variety of Old and New Testament texts, and examines a wide range of issues. The authors desire is that Jesus Christ might be glorified more and more in the church and in the world; their eager expectation is that one day the whole creation will find its consummation in him, and God will be all and in all.

REVIEWS

This presentation of mission is as broad, lively, earthy and integrated as the Bible itself. It is especially pleasing to see careful attention give to the Old Testament roots and content of Christian mission.
-Chris Wright,

Here is a solid biblical basis for a holistic theology of Christian mission. The author’ interaction with the diverse worldviews of the 21st century is most useful. An excellent resource for Western and non-Western readers.
-HWA YUNG

The Bible Speaks Today describes three series of expositions, based on the books of the Old an New Testaments, and on Bible themes that run through the whole of Scripture.
