Description

Rev Dr Y Antony Raj’s Social Impact of Conversion is the outcome of his doctoral dissertation submitted to Sri Venkateswara University, Thirupathi, in 1994. As per the methodology of Social Sciences, he has measured the impact of conversion on the Christians of Scheduled Caste Origin (CSCO) by comparing them with those of the Scheduled Caste Hindus (SCH).

Again, he has measured the impact of conversion by conducting a comparative study among the Christians of Scheduled Caste Origin who chose to convert to different denominations of Christianity. Though the study is statistically limited to the Christians in the civil district of Cuddapah, Andhra Pradesh, the fact of the impact of conversion to Christianity is sociologically confirmed.

Impact of conversion on the converts is a complex and controversial issue. The author superbly measures and articulates the impact of conversion basing on the statistics genuinely gathered. This is a book to be read by sociologists and all those, especially clergy and religious, who need to know the challenges confronting the modern communities of faith as they work for their total liberation.
