Description
This book is primarily directed towards the present generation which is not sufficiently equipped to derive benefits from the available texts on Vedanta. The Chapters included explain the basic vocabulary of Vedanta; the relevance of Vedanta in everyday life and control of mind for achieving fulfillment and tranquility in life.
It dwells on the relevance of Vedanta in everyday life of a seeker for enlightenment from the standpoints of Karmayoga and Jnanayoga the contributions of a few well-known sages; and control of mind for achieving fulfillment and tranquility in life.
The study and practice of Vedanta is not an exclusive privilege of those who have renounced the world and adopted a monastic life. The teachings of Vedanta have a universal appeal and they are as relevant for a recluse as they are for a householder who is struggling hard to achieve an honest, peaceful, happy and contented life. Its message of comfort and solace satisfies the aspirations of all mankind irrespective of their religious affiliations.
It reminds human beings about their true nature as a manifestation of Ishvara, which is superbly reassuring, when the society is burdened with discord and distress. It proclaims, without any equivocation, that everyone enjoys an equal opportunity to become Brahman, provided he can get rid of the veil of ignorance that clouds his vision.
Vedanta emphasizes such noble traits as the acquisition of knowledge, freedom of thought and action, purity of mind and body, moral discipline, active family life without attachment to sense objects, brotherhood of mankind and Self realization. In short it stresses the dignity of man within the framework of moral code.
