Description
This work traces the events between 1996 and the present, and how the BJP-led coalition governments have fared in the political, economic, national security and defense, and the social arenas.
In this book author trace the events between 1996 and the present, and how the BJP-led coalition governments have fared in the political, economic, national security and defense, and the social arenas. A further challenge has been the internal criticism by the pressures from the RSS and its affiliates who feel that the BJP -coalition is reneging on a variety of promises. Complicating the scenario further are the global economic, political, and military pressures that make the guiding of a large and heterogeneous nation as impossible as getting a camel through the eye of a needle.
The book contains five chapters. The first four chapters deal with the political, economic, national security and defense, and social spheres and how the BJP-led coalition fared in them. The fifth and concluding chapter summarizes for the reader the challenges that the nation and the Sangh Parivar will face in the immediate future. The concluding part of the chapter analyses the influence of two men on modern Indian politics and society - Gandhiji and Nehru - and how many Indians including the Sangh's shadow-battle these two men's ideas and personalities.
