Much of what goes by the name of Hinduism today can be traced to the Puranas. There are many Puranas, but eighteen of them are major and therefore known as Mahapuranas.
The Bhagavata Purana is a major Purana and is usually placed fifth in any list of the mahapuranas. It has eighteen thousand couplets, arranged in twelve sections, and each section has several chapters. This set in large format contains Sanskrit text.
