Description
Faiz transformed the established theme of individual love into love for humanity and concern for the human condition. Because of his knowledge of, and empathy with, the Persian and Arabic literary tradition, he was able to link it with contemporary Urdu poetry.
His scholarship in English literature imbued his work with an international dimension. This volume is made up of translations of Faiz’s best work by the late poet and scholar Daud Kamal, and by journalist and literary translator Khalid Hasan.
It also contains a prose section based on Faiz’s interviews and conversations that epitomize his views on life and literature.
