Description
Taittiriya Upanishad of Yajur veda is the most widely chanted Upanishad. It is one of the ten important Upanishads (Dasopanishad) for which Adi Sankara and other Acharyas have written commentaries. It consists of three chapters.
The first, SIKSHA VALLI is directed to the Bramachari about Vedic studies and right conduct. It includes such exhoratation as Satyam vada, Dharmam Chara, Matru Devo Bhava etc.
The second chapter BRAHMANANDA VALLI gives the Swaroopa Lakhana or definition of Brahman and proclaims that knowledge of Brahman takes one to the highest position. The third chapter BRUGUR VALLI is a step by step approach which shows the right path (Tatastha Lakshana) for Brahmanhood.
Taittirya Upanishad which is Brahmavidya is chanted daily, especially on Dwadasi before breaking the fast.
