Description

1. PRATASMARANAM: The eight slokas with Phalasruthi have for ages been recited, first things in the morning. It is a prayer to the deities, Rishis and other natural forces to afford auspicious beginning of the day that is to break - all due to the grace of Paramatma. These are to be recited, meditated or merely heard. This particular portion of the cd may played in the morning before starting any other work. It is the Suprabhata contained in our Smritis.

2. YOGA TARAVALI OF ADI SANKARA: It is common knowledge that Adi Sankar was a great Vedantin. But he was a unique yogi as well. Yoga Taravali is a beautiful, crisp and a rare work on yoga by the Achary. Here it is recited, as slokas are supposed to be, and not sung to a raga.

3. SHANTI PANCHAKAM: Vedic chanting is a daily duty according to Asthikas. On many occasions, due to pressure on time, only a few mantras are recited. The five shanty patas, knows as Shantipanchakam by vedic scholars are usually chanted before and / or after the vedaparayana.

4. YOGA SUTRAS OF PATANJALI: Patanjali an incarnation of Adisesha at the behest of Lord Vishnu and Lord Siva is said to have written three texts for the benefit of humanity. Ayurveda for health, a grammar work called mahabhashya for the correct use of Sanskrit language, and Yoga sutras for mental clarity and spiritual evolution. This is most authoritative and complete work on yoga. It consists of 195 sutras or aphorisms divided into 4 chapters in this recording an introduction along with a lucid summery of each of the chapters are given. The chanting of sutras is also given according to tradition. These sutras are recited and memorized by many scholars and student of Yoga at their fingertips. His holiness Sri Jayendra Saraseathi, the Sankaracharya of Kamakotipeedam has also graciously heard the rendering and has commended and blessed the project of making a recording of it for public good.
