Description
As a book of scripture, the Bhagavadgita has assumed a position of universal interest. Its teachings have gained appreciation not only in India, but far beyond its borders. Our Gita Library alone comprises about 1400 editions of the Bhagavadgita publishes in 34 different languages. We have brought out this new English edition in book from and we trust it will find favour with the English-reading public.
The English translation of this edition has been based on the Hindi rendering of the Gita made by Syt. Jayadayal Goyandka and appearing in the Gita-Tattva Number of the Hindi monthly ‘Kalyan’, published by the Gita Press. In preparing the present English translation, the translators have made use, every now and then of other English translations of the Gita, and express their grateful acknowledgement to the same.
The Bhagavadgita contains divine words emanating from the lips of God Himself. Its glory is infinite, unlimited. None can really describe it. Even Sesa, the thousand-headed serpent-god, whose back forms the couch of God Visnu, and Siva and Ganesa, cannot fully depict this glory. How can a puny mortal expect to do it? The Epics and Puranas etc., have sung the glory of the Gita at many together, even then exhausted, The fact is that a full description of the glory of the Gita is never possible. For how can things which can be fully described, remain unlimited? It at once becomes finite and limited
