After my first novel A Home Away From Home dealing wit non-resident Indians, I was thinking of something nearer Home. Suddenly it struck me, ‘Why not write something dealing with our elder people?’ With economic progress and advancement of medical science their life span has increased, but so has their loneliness and dependence. Families have become nuclear and also intolerant ideally old age home may not be solution, but realistically it is.

This then is the story of Vishwasrao, who loved his freedom more than his material comforts. In the process he found love from Shakeela, a caretaker of ‘Adhar’ –the old age home and proved what Jeanne Moreau has said, ‘Age does not protect you from love. But love, to some extent, protects you from age’.

It is also story of people like Vishwasrao, who turned new leaf in the changed atmosphere from home to old age home and could bring roses in December.
