Mahadevbhai, Gandhiji’s Secretary from 1917 till 1942 maintained a diary where he meticulously jotted down the letters to and by Gandhiji as well as his conversations and bantering and lectures and discourses. And it is in these diaries where Ramu Ramanthan found the source of Mahadevbhai. Through Mahadevbaai’s narrative he takes us through several historic acts and moments which decided the fate of the nation and also helps clear several misconceptions regarding Gandhiji.
INSOMNIA:
Set in 1993 against the backdrop of the communal riots in Mumbai, Insomnia is about loss of innocence, desire for love, and a life of quiet desperation lived in modern Indian cities. Despite their money and their money and their protected existences, the characters in the play cannot avoid the consequences of violent politics and the cultural fault-lines it creates.
