The narration commences with the pre-independence foreign policy posturing of the Muslim League, which was conditioned by the external events like the Khilafat movement. The Muslim League used the Khilafat movement and other Islam-related events abroad to assert its Islamic identity, which was basis of demand for separate statehood. Mahatma Gandhi and his followers used the same events to promote the secular identity of the Congress party in India.
Pakistan has used Islam to cement ties with Muslim as well as non-Muslim countries. This work makes an attempt to tell the story with objectivity.
