Food Security is commonly defined as 'access by all people at all times to enough food for an active, healthy life.' Food insecurity in turn is the lack of access to enough food.
Food Security is a right and not an aspiration. Food is a human right. Food is first and foremost a source of nutrition and only secondarily, an item of trade. The Three components of food security - availability, access and sustainability - are essential for maintaining peace and harmony within a country.
