Description

This set of 2 illustrated books narrates the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata in an easy to understand language for young children.

Part I: The Mahabharata is a long and difficult book. How much so is shown by the following story which is in the epic. When Vyasa had composed the story in his mind, he looked for someone to write it down. He thought that only a god could properly take down his colossal work. He, therefore invoked the mighty Genesa.

Many of the characters in the epic are shown as semi-divine and possessing supernatural qualities. Yet they all behave and act in an intensely human way.

Part-II: Rama has been accepted as an incarnation of the Supreme Being. Only his divinity can explain many of the miracles in the story. But Valmiki treats him essentially as a man and a prince.
