First published in 1917, this work traces its origin to demand from military officers who wanted a text book which might enable them to work at the language by themselves for appearing in the Elementary Examination in Pashto. The books then available were compiled by various Munshis who had very little knowledge of the Pathan's language, as few of them, if any, were Yusufza-is by birth.

This book is arranged under three parts. Part-I relates to Pushtu Grammar, and Part II relates to colloquial with various useful terms. The Final Part III carries English and Pushtu vocabulary.
