For the construction of the story of this dauntless lady and mother of Duleep Singh, the author has primarily used contemporary sources. He has profusely quoted from the original documents particularly the letters of the Maharani which bring forth her role as the who stood against the British might till her last breath. It was she who realized that the British did not possess enough European forces in India to stand on their own. Their main strength was the native Sepoy regiments recruited from among the Indians. Therefore, she struck with idea of inciting the sepoys of the British regiments to revolt against their oppressive white masters. In this way, she germinated the idea of mutiny in the minds of Hindustani sepoys.
Maharani Jind Kaur's escape from high security prison of Chunar fort presents a saga of dare devilery by a woman, perhaps equaled only by the Rani of Jhansi.

In his present assignment as Editor-in-Chief of the Encyclopedia of Sikhism at Punjabi University, Patiala, Professor Kapur is involved in the revision and updating of the Encyclopedia as also preparation of a Punjabi adaptation of the same.
