This work is a life sketch of Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah (1560-1610), the fifth ruler of Golkonda dynasty, was the first Urdu poet who has left behind a Diwan a century before Wali Mohammad Wali, considered to be the father of Urdu Poetry.
This Diwan was unknown till 1922. when for the first time Maulvi Abdul Haq introduced it in his journal Urdu with a detailed write-up. Later on in 1990 Dr M Q Zore edited this Diwan and published it. Qutb Shah’s reputation as a great poet was instantly established. Since the edited work did not contain a glossary and lacked in some other aspects also, Dr Syeda Jafar re-edited it which was published by Taraqqi-e-Urdu Bureau (New Delhi) in 1958.
