Description

A coffee table book on art paper provides a rare look at Delhi, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri in the spectacular color images of one of India's most respected photographers and the knowledgeable prose of a young Asian journalist. All this is put together in a format that is as entertaining and stylish as it is informative.

Delhi is a giant among the world's cities. Its size is staggering. Old Delhi, New Delhi and the surrounding suburbs cover nearly 1500 square kilometers. But even more important than its physical dimensions is the enormous impact Delhi has had on the history, religion, politics, culture and, of course, the art of the world. Indeed, it's impossible to travel more than a few steps in the city without stumbling upon a significant artifact, scene or event. Walk down the wide avenue where the body of Mahatma Gandhi was carried to a funeral pyre upon a human river of people. Then turn the corner to find the Presidential Palace built by the British Raj that Gandhi helped bring down.

And just 200 kilometers south of the capital in the city of Agra rises the Taj Mahal, the world's greatest monument to love and slightly west of Agra, that palatial wonder, Fathepur Sikri.
