Description

Kath – Stories from Kashmir is a collection of short stories by major writers of fiction in Kashmiri. The stories – is a chronological order – cover the entire period from the late forties, when the first short story in Kashmiri was published, to the present decade. They reflect the changing concerns, values and moods of Kashmiri Society through its turbulent history from 1947 onwards.

The writers represent all shades of opinion and ideology, coming from different social circles and religious identities. This makes it a valuable documentation of recent, Kashmiri history. Even though set in Kashmir, each story, in its own style illuminates a facet of life that has universal significance.
