Description
What does the guru gain from the disciple? Nothing. For you cannot add to his fullness. What does the disciple gain? Every thing. For he moves from darkness to light from ignorance to knowledge. The natural state overflowing bliss is what the guru gives to a piple who seeks nothing from him.
Ramana is a universal guru, accessable to everyone at all times. In this work, Muruganar, the Self-realised disciple of Ramana forth his experience of natural bliss, in raptourous, ecstatic verses in praise of his guru nana. He is the alchemist who transforms 3le of ordinary clay into true seers. Such is power. Such is his grace. Abundant, ever present, and given unasked.
Ramana had not only bestowed on Muruganar his own state of steady self abidance but had also clothed him with power to express that experience. He terms this joyous experience 'Ramana Anubuti' and describes what Happens.
The confusion of the senses ended and the world's illusion was dispelled as grace's bright Sun rose, absorbing me in itself and obliterating all distinctions. And as I entered the light of a life lived in the holy silence of the glorious non-Dual state the 'I' and all that arises from it subsided and dissolved away.
'Ramana Anubuti' has been translated by Robert Butler of Cheshire, U.K. He was for some years the Librarian in Sri Ramanasramam Library Library. During those years he mastered Tamil.
In some of the verses which needed further clarification, he has got it from a Muruganar scholar, H. Vaidyanathan. The power of translation is enhanced by the fact Robert Butler too is able to share the experience.
The introduction is by A.R. Natarajan, author of several books on Sri Ramana Maharshi's life and teachings.
