Description

Bankimchandra's contribution to the resurgence and rejuvenation of the Indian people is too well known to be dilated upon. Some thing however need be told here for the benefit of our younger compatriots.

Bakimchandra has been called Rishi, a seer, by savants like Aurobindo Ghosh and Bepin Chandra Pal. His Bande Matram, till recently, was recognized as the best of our national songs and acclaimed as the "National Anthem" for the people of India, the undivided Bharatbarsa.

Bankimchandra Chattopadhyaya was a prolific writer not only in Bengali but also in English. A great believer in the national integration, he made English his vehicle for giving expressions to his ideas. This volume presents his English works. The volume is divided in three parts viz., - Rajmohan's Wife, Essays and Letters, and Letters on Hinduism.
