Description

A wholly delightful book, wherein Rajneesh speaks of Krishna in a hundred different ways.

There can be a thousand statements about who Krishna is, says Osho. And he adds: But Krishna belies all our statements. How does one understand a man with so many sides to him? Osho calls Krishna complete and whole because he has disaffirmed all our pronouncements on him.

Osho's understanding of Krishna is on the philosophical level. Or rather on, on the universal level. He does not get down to the nitty gritty of asking whether such a man existed. For Osho, it is immaterial. He says: The dates of his birth and death are not definitely known. And it is useless to know them; any dates would do. Particular dates and times are irrelevant in relation to Krishna; he can happen at any date and any time. He will be relevant to any time and situation.

Osho's book on Krishna is a treat. It stresses that Krishna celebrates life, he does not negate it. Krishna and his flute are inseparable. Krishna's flute symbolizes life's benediction and man's gratefulness to life for his blessing. When Krishna plays his flute, its melody, its bliss does not remain confined to him, it gladdens all those whose hearts come to hear it.
