Description
The raag ‘Puriya’ is one of the most difficult melodies of Hindustani music. The reason is that it does not have the note ‘pa’ which is a resting point in our octave. The combination of komal ‘re’ and shuddha ‘dha’ gives it a unique character and the note teevra ‘ma’ adds great intensity to the intrinsic character of the melody.
This raga is ‘poorvanga pradhan’ in the sense it flourishes in the lower part of the octave. For singers with a deep voice like Rashid Khan, Bhimsen joshi and Aamir Khan this raga is ideally suited.
This CD carries following tracks:
Piya gunvanta sabahi batan mein – Vilambit Ektaal
Mein kari aayi sang rang raliyan – Drut Teentaal
