From ancient time, down the ages, North-East India was greatly affected by military and cultural invasions from different corners. The silent invasion of the Aryan culture from the north, the military and cultural invasion of the Muslims from Bengal, invasions of the Ahoms, Burmese and the British brought in their own perspective socio-political and economic systems into North-East India which were mingled with the indigenous system.
The passing of the Charter Act of 1813 enabled the missionaries to extend their activities to the local people in India under the auspices of their own respective societies. This increased the tempo of the missionary activates in India including North-East India.
The Anglican Church, whether in North-East India or India as a whole or, even, anywhere in the world, is just part of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. Therefore, its missionary activities in North-East India were, also part of Mission History of Christianity in India.
This book is an added advantage for readers interested in ‘Anglicanism’, its establishment in India and its impact on the life of India as a whole, more particularly in North-East India.
