This Powerful stotra is narrated in the Brahmanda Purana, (Uttara Khanda) during the discourse between Hayagriva and Agastya as the Secret of Secrets to please the Goddess and to derive Her grace. Thus, it is a sacred stotra, a beautiful hymn of praise, extolling divine consciousness in the exquisitely lovely form of Lalita Devi, the playful and tender Divine Mother.
It was composed by the eight Vag Devatas, Goddesses of Speech, at the command of Divine Mother Herself. Lot of benefits are stated in the purana for chanting Lalita Sahasranama as well as Trisati (300 names of Devi) and a few alone are highlighted above.
