Description
Gujarat on the western coast of India has its own character and glory. The archaeological finds at Lothal near Ahmedabad, at Dholavira in Kutch and at number of sites in Saurashtra tell us the history of Gujarat of 4500 years. The Manchester of East, i.e.Ahmedabad earned this title because of its number of textile mills.
At present leading industries include machine tools, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, dyes, soda-ash, dairy, fertilisers etc. Gujarat also gave the world’s largest integrated dairy development programme which is based on Anand model of dairy cooperatives in the country.
