Description
There was a log felt need for a biography of Sri Eknathji. Not only from the Karyakartas and sympathizers of the Kendra, but also from many others who knew him personally and also those who adored him by coming in contact with the Vivekananda rock Memorial and other activities of the Kendra. We do not claim that this fragile volume, even remotely fulfils that need, but we are confident that this is a fitting prelude and worthy introduction to a complete biography of Sri-Eknathji, which will be completed in due course, by more competent hands.
It is not an easy task to write a biography of a personality like Sri Eknathji. Great men are of different types. Spiritual personalities are great by their inner achievements, which are externally invisible whereas there are men of achievements who are marked by their public and visible contributions. It is easier to write the biography of people, whose achievements are physically measurable; where as those, whose spiritual heights are rarely seen outside, defy description by means of language. Sri Eknathji Ranade was great by both standards-external and internal. A full comprehensive biography of Sri Eknathji could be written perhaps only by a team. To do justice to such a great man is no ordinary job. It should find the ordained Hour. We are sure that providence has willed it and it will be done.
AN EXTRACT:
We want thousands of men and women, who will spread like wild fire form the Himalayas to Cape Comorin, from North Pole to South Pole-all over the World. IT is no use indulging in child’s play-neither is there time for it. Let those who have come for Child’s play be off now, while there is time, or they will surely come to grief. We want an organization. Off with Laziness! Spread! Run like fire to all places. Who will give the world light? Sacrifice in the past has been the law, it will be, alas, for ages to come. The earth’s bravest and best will have to sacrifice themselves for the good for many, for the welfare of all.
