Description

Kailas Yatra describes the journey of Parama Pujya Swami Tapovanam Maharaj to Pashupatinath, Kailas and Manasarovar, in his own words. In the foreword to his book, written in Malayalam, Swami Chinmayananda wrote:

Though the spiritual path is very harsh like the edge of a knife, by continuous practice it becomes like a silken bed. The means by which the path becomes easy to travel happily are what are described in this book under the pretext of a journey to Kailas.

This book was translated from Malayalam to English by Swamini Niranjanananda (then Brni. Tapasya Chaitanya) and it was serialized in Tapovan Prasad in the issues from December 1995 to December 1998. The serial started in the Jayanthi month of our Parama Guru and ended in the Jayanthi month. The first edition of this book in Malayalam was published in 1928.

On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Chinmaya Movement, Swamini Niranjanananda dedicates her labour of love at the lotus feet of Parama Pujya Swami Tapovanam Maharaj and offers this valuable treasure as a book before the readers.

ABOUT THE TRANSLATOR:

SWAMINI NIRANJANANANDA is at present the chief editor of Tapovan Prasad, the International monthly of the Chinmaya Mission which is published from Chennai. She joined, the Sandeepany Sadhanalaya and completed the Vedanta Course under the tutelage of Swami Chindananda. Attained brahmacharini deeksha in the year 1993 and was named as Brni. Tapasya Chaitanya. In 1995, she translated into English the Malayalam work Kailas Yatra of Parama Pujya Gurudev Swami Tapovanam Maharaj, and serialized it in Tapovan Prasad. The serial ended in December 1998. In 1996, Swami Tejomayananda. On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2001, this English translation has been brought out in a book form and is dedicated by Swamini Niranjananda to Parama Pujya Gurudev Swami Tapovanam Maharaj and Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda as a token of her humble gratitude.
