Description

Hazrat Khwaja Mui nuddin Hassn Chisti is a living symbol of Sufi mysticism. The life and his ways are not visible by mere transmission of knowledge or dialogues alone. In his case such modes are grounded to dust. There is much more then what eye can see or heart can feel. The dervish of Sanjar was the chosen one of the Lord and he had polished him with divine effulgence. Commoners come to the saint for personal gains and the mystics to derive spiritual benefits so that they could be enrolled in the path of trance. By sheer dint of his spiritual power the saint has illumined the lives of many. But for his grace the work could not have been smoothened.

It is difficult to write about Sufism in brief, Nicholson has written, Sufism is subject so vast and many sided that several large volumes would be required to do any thing like justice. The word Sufi is derived from the Arabic word safa which means purity, as the early mystics and dervishes use to wear (suf) woolen garment as a symbol of their faith and renunciation. Many dimensions of Sufism are to be found in the mysticism of Prophet Muhammad especially those relating to self denial and simplicity which have become the corner stone of Islamic traditions. It is related.
