Description
The second in the series of four volumes of Select Sikh Scriptures, this work transcreated into English by noted Punjabi litterateur Duggal, is devoted to Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Guru, the founder of the Harimandir, presently known as the Golden Temple.
A highly evolved soul, Guru Arjan Dev was both a sensitive poet and an accomplished musician. He contributed the largest number of hymns - 2218 - in the Holy Granth, set to music in 29 ragas. Guru's magnum opus the Sukhmani is recited by the devotees every morning and ranks amongst the most inspired longer hymns in spiritual literature.
Companion volumes of this collection relate to Guru Nank, Guru Angad, Guru Amar Das, Guru Ram Das, Guru Teg Bahadur and other Bhaktas. The final volume No: 4 is devoted to Guru Gobind Singh.
