Description
This volume contains revised papers presented at the National Seminar organised in 2004 by Samsodhana (Sirsi) under the sponsorship of the Department of Sanskrit, Karnatak University, Dharwad. The substantial components of ever-lasting values of Rajadharma in the papers are capable of directing the man to the righteous path of life.
The Concept of Rajadharma has twenty papers in all covering a wide spectrum of the subject-matter ranging from the Vedas to the Classical Sanskrit literature, and highlighting the relevance to the governance of present time. Though deriving the source material from different ancient Sanskrit texts, the papers uphold a singular theme that governance during the ancient days had the sole purpose of establishing the welfare of society at large.
The papers based on Mahabharata, Ramayana, Manusmrti, Yajnaval / kyasmrti, Arthasastra combine in themselves an expressive application to the ancient values of beneficial governance; while, those papers culling the subject from the Sanskrit text of Classical period, record sug-gestive points reinforcing the guiding principles of good governance.
On the whole, this volume signifies the truth that when a ruler has indomitable spiritual strength, he can conquer the mundane attachment, and execute the strategies restoring the welfare of the people. Thus, it can be of great use to those who are commited to upliftment of the society and nation.
