In the middle of the night that soldier cried and pleaded, No, please no! Don’t do this to our Emperor. It will be a disaster! It raised a hell in the palace. The soldier was brought to the presence of the emperor and asked to explain his conduct. The soldier revealed, Your Majesty! When I went to sleep the angels arrived. They discussed that when lying on the royal bed for a short time was worth twenty lashes how many lashes the emperor be given who has been lying on that bad for so many years. The soldier added, Sir, I was praying to them not to do any such horrendous thing.

The Emperor smiled. He asked the soldier, Did you meet Birbal? The soldier did not reply. Akbar knew who had given the soldier the idea. The soldier was pardoned and the punishment of 20 lashes was withdrawn.
