Description

The life of Tulsidas, as narrated below, etched a deep impression upon author's mind.

Atmaram, staunch believer in astrology, ordered his wife to discard their new-born baby as the horoscope of the child predicted death of the parents. His obedient wife carried out his orders which, perhaps, no present-day mother would have done. Rather, she would have walked away even to the streets with the baby in her arms.

When Tulsi started family life with beautiful Ratnavali, he got immersed in amorous life neglecting his duties as a poet and preacher. But when Ratnavali awakened him pointing out at an old woman, he got transformed and broke away from the family life. Here, Ratnavali’s selflessness and capacity to advise her learned husband moved me immensely.

Finally when Samrat Akbar invites Tulsi to his court, Tulsi politely refuses this invitation stating that he does not recognize any kingdom other than that of Shri Ram. These significant events among many other contributions of Tulsi inspired me to express his life through my drawings.
