Description

This volume in the size 15.5 x 11.5 inches depicts paintings on art paper on the theme of Rama's wandering during his exile and his adventures in the forest as narrated in the great Indian epic the Ramayana. The paintings are from Chamba, an important center of Pahari painting, situated in the Ravi valley in the heart of the Himalaya mountains.

All ancient Indian scriptures hold a man's character above all else. In factor, 'the central idea of old Hindu civilization... was that of dharma which was something mmuch more than religion or creed; it was a conception of obligations, of the discharge of one's duties to oneself and to others.'

Ramayana is encyclopedic in its contents and it has been said that there is no situation or circumstance, one faces in life, which does not occur in tjhis story and thus it guides its hearers to righteous action on all occasions and for all obligations and duties in different situations and circumstances.
