Christianity among other religions is a lived-in reality in India. The pluralism of religions is one of the two most challenging factors for Christianity in India. But this challenge is not something that has cropped up in he recent past or one that is restricted to the Indian subcontinent alone. Down the corridors of time Christianity has faced this challenge in many a part of the world.
That being the case, a Christian author who could throw light on how Christianity in its early phase encountered this challenge was selected. And none other than the great theologian Origen! And His treatise Contra Celsum deals with such a challenging situation so a critical study of Contra Celsum has been undertaken here with a view of bring out its relevance particularly for the Indian situation.
This work on the one hand shows well the problems Christianity faced at the time of Origen as well as his own position then. On the other hand it also brings out clearly the questions which Christianity meets today especially in India.
