A study of the structured design of a number of Indian historical buildings and astronomical calculations, as depicted in some of the ancient Hindu temples stand testimony to the fact that our ancestors marvelled in astronomy and palmistry. Count Louis Hamon known as Cheiro, the writer of this book, had himself visited India to know the mysteries of this land. He studied a lot of ancient Indian literature on the subjects of palmistry, numerology and astrology and many of these were later interpreted by him in English. While in India, he came to know of a particular book-the Lal Kitab (Red Book) or Run Samhita which was later interpreted in Arabic, Persian, and Urdu languages and is said to have orginated with Ravana, the demon king of Lanka, who in turn, had it from Arun the charioteer of the Sun. The text of the book has hidden connotations and is hard to decipher. Cheiro was himself fascinated by the knowledge entailed in this treatise. It helped him pronounce many future happenings when he returned to Europe.
In bringing out this world famous book written by Cheiro, we have endeavored, as always, to tell our readers some of the finer aspects of palmistry and hope that they will patronise us for our efforts, as ever.
