As the greatest Hindi and Urdu writer of pre-independence India, Premchand had pioneered modern Hindi literature. His collected works are being published in Urdu in 22 volumes. This book, twelveth in the series, is a collection of his fifty short stories.
Madan Gopal, an authority on Premchand, credits Premchand with 301 short stories. This volume carries fifty short stories written in Urdu/Hindi and translated by the author himself. These stories, written over a period of few years, were also published in a collection under several titles such as Prem Pachisaa/ Prem Bateesi/ Mansarovar etc.
Literary Works of Premchand have been collected in 22 volumes and are being published under the title Kulliyat-e-Premchand. The volumes have been arranged as follows:
Volume 1 to 8 anthologizes his Novels.
Volume 9 to 14 is a collection of his short fiction.
Volume 15 and 16 relate to the plays authored by him.
Volume 17 carries his letters and correspondence
Volume 18 to 20 are omnibus collection of his writings
Volume 21 and 22 contain translated works.
