Freedom and Fissures is an anthology of partition poetry written in Sindhi. To the Sindhis Indian independence did not mean freedom - it meant exile. In the wake of partition lakhs of Sindhis fled their homeland leaving everything behind. It was a sad day for a community and a culture that had flourished on the banks of River Indus 3000 years ago.
The anguish, suffering, sense of alienation and betrayal felt by the Sindhis on both sides of the border find full expression in this anthology compiled with meticulous care. It includes eminent Sindhi poets like Arjan Shad, Sadhu Vaswani, Persram Zia, Popati Hiranandani, Prabvhu Wafa, Krishin Rahi, Hari Dilgir and Pakistani poets Shaikh Ayaz and Imdad Hussaini among others.
